Yakutia Unveils Ambitious 558 Billion Ruble Plan to Transform Yakutsk by 2032

Yakutia has launched an ambitious plan to transform its capital, Yakutsk, into a premier city on permafrost by its 400th anniversary in 2032. The master plan, costing an estimated 1 million rubles, includes major infrastructure projects and urban renewal.

The plan, approved by a recent decree, aims to relocate residents from dilapidated housing and renovate the 2.4th and 17th districts. These areas will be transformed into a new microdistrict, the Sports District. Among the key projects are the construction of the Lena River Bridge, set to commence in 2026, and the Far East’s first full-cycle film studio. Additionally, an Arctic Center for Epic and Arts, a multi-university campus, and the Park of Future Generations will be developed.

Funding for this extensive plan is expected to come from various sources. The republic's and municipal budgets will contribute 90 billion rubles, with the mayor, Yevgeny Grigoryev, expecting to secure 280 billion rubles in federal funding by 2032. Private investors will cover the remainder of the costs.

Yakutsk's master plan, with an estimated cost of 558 billion rubles, is set to reshape the city's landscape and infrastructure. The project, expected to be completed by 2032, will not only improve the lives of its residents but also position Yakutsk as a leading city on permafrost.
