Born in the Shologonsky Nationality Village of the Gorny District, Maria Grigoryevna Tarasova has seen and experienced much in her century of life. During the Great Patriotic War, she worked diligently as an accountant and brigade leader, contributing to the nation's victory. Post-war, she continued her service, serving as the head of a library-club and the secretary of the village council, fostering cultural and public life.
Her dedication to her community and culture has been recognized with numerous awards. In 2010, she was awarded the 'For Contribution to the Development of Folk Artistic Creativity in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)' badge for her work as a folk art carrier and hitch-hiker improviser. She has also been honoured with the 'For Labor Valor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945' medal and the title of Honorary Citizen of the Gorny District. To celebrate her longevity, she has received the Yakutia Long-Liver Honor Badge 'Үйэ саас' and a one-time payment of 1 million rubles.
