Yakutsk’s 2032 Master Plan Promises a Bold Urban Transformation

Yakutsk has unveiled an ambitious master plan aimed at transforming the city’s infrastructure and quality of life by 2032. Mayor Yevgeny Grigoryev presented the strategy to delegates of the All-Russian Association for the Development of Local Self-Government (VARLSU), outlining 95 key initiatives backed by 471.2 billion rubles in funding. The plan has already gained high-level support, including approval from Russian President Vladimir Putin and formal endorsement by Aisen Nikolayev, Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The master plan was officially ratified by a Russian government directive, underscoring its importance for regional development. Amendments focusing on the Yakutsk agglomeration were introduced on October 17, 2025, setting the framework for long-term growth. Five projects have already been completed, such as the revitalisation of Lenin Square and the renovation of Lake Saisary’s waterfront. Additionally, the modernisation of the Yakutsk House-Building Plant (DSK) and the expansion of the Sakha Polytechnic Lyceum have been finalised.

The master plan’s implementation will bring significant changes to Yakutsk, from upgraded public spaces to better housing and educational facilities. By 2032, the city expects to see enhanced infrastructure, a stronger economy, and improved living standards for its residents. The project’s success will depend on continued funding, efficient execution, and ongoing support from regional and federal authorities.
