Yakutsk’s newest school nears completion, set to welcome 990 students by 2026
A new large-scale school is under construction in Yakutsk’s Star District, set to become the city’s third-largest educational facility. Once completed, it will accommodate 990 students and is scheduled to open its doors by the start of the 2026 academic year.
Construction progress was recently inspected by Yakutia’s leader, Aisen Nikolaev, highlighting the project’s regional significance.
The school is being built in the Zvezdny microdistrict, part of the 'Voinskaya Chast' quarter. This area is undergoing extensive development, including 30 mid-rise apartment buildings and two block-style residential complexes. Together, they will provide 264,800 sq m of housing for around 11,000 future residents.
The project is managed by general contractor LLC 'King-95', with financial backing from DOM.RF Bank. As of late 2025, construction is approximately 78% complete. Workers are now focusing on interior finishing, utility systems, landscaping, and installing necessary equipment.
Local news reports from late 2025 also mentioned Yakutstroy as a key contractor involved in the school’s development. The facility’s completion will mark a major step in expanding educational infrastructure within the growing microdistrict.
The new school will help meet the needs of Yakutsk’s expanding population. With its capacity for nearly 1,000 students, it will play a key role in the Zvezdny microdistrict’s planned development. The project remains on track for a 2026 opening.
