Yakutsk’s Ytyk Sir Park Blends Nature, Culture, and Community Spirit

Yakutsk's newest green space, Ytyk Sir Park, is taking shape. Led by an active advisor, renowned olonkhosut Afanasy Fyodorov, and backed by Mayor Yevgeny Grigoryev, the park aims to blend relaxation and cultural immersion.

The park, located between the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War community and Victory Park, will connect with the latter upon completion, forming a unified leisure area. It emerged from a citizen-driven initiative that won a federal vote for urban development.

Construction began this year, with traditional sun-welcoming ceremonies planned. The park will feature rest areas, sports zones, and host various events. Wooden sculptures depicting Yakut culture, such as an olonkhosut and children performing the sun-welcoming ritual, have already been installed. The project's architect remains unnamed, but Dmitry Postnikov, Nikolai Chochchasov, Yegor Stepanov, and others are involved.

Ytyk Sir Park, once complete, will serve as a multifunctional space for relaxation and active leisure, offering Yakutsk residents an immersive experience in their cultural traditions. Mayor Grigoryev's visit to the under-construction site underscores the city's commitment to this vital cultural center.
