Yale’s College Republicans bring bold conservative voices to a left-leaning campus

Yale University's College Republicans have been actively hosting events with prominent conservative figures, despite a majority of first-year students identifying as left-leaning. The group aims to provide a platform for conservative voices on campus.

The College Republicans recently hosted a meet-and-greet with Steve Orosco, the defeated New Haven Republican party candidate. In the past, they've welcomed conservative commentator Michael Knowles. Upcoming events include appearances by Erik Prince and Ron DeSantis this semester.

Founded in January 2024, the group differentiates itself by inviting openly Republican party speakers to campus. Manu Anpalagan '26, the founder of the current iteration, hopes to leave the club in a strong position for future years. While the Yale College Democrats are more actively involved in canvassing and advocacy, the College Republicans focus on education and bringing conservative speakers to campus.

The Yale College Republicans, revived in 2024, continue to host high-profile conservative speakers, aiming to foster debate and dialogue among students. Despite political differences, the group strives to provide a platform for conservative thought on campus.
