Yekaterinburg gears up for Victory Day with parades and tight security
Yekaterinburg is preparing to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War with a series of events. The city will enforce heightened security measures and restrictions to ensure public safety during the celebrations. The day will begin early with the 'Immortal Regiment' event. Participants will gather at 9:00 a.m. at 19 Pushkin Street and follow a designated route through the city. This event will also take place in person in Verkhnyaya Pyshma and Kamensk-Uralsky, with tightened security in all locations.
At 10:00 a.m., a military parade will start on 1905 Square. Marching units from Yekaterinburg’s military garrison will participate, with the parade lasting around 30 minutes. From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., an exhibition of vintage military vehicles will be displayed on Gorky Street.
After the parade and march, Soviet war films will be screened on 1905 Square from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The main celebrations, including concerts and other events, will take place in Historical Square throughout the day. A fireworks display is planned for the evening, though officials have not yet confirmed if it will proceed.
To maintain order, alcohol sales will be banned in the city centre from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Additionally, scooters and personal mobility devices will be prohibited in central Yekaterinburg from 12:10 a.m. on Saturday until 5:00 a.m. on Sunday. The city has implemented strict measures to manage the celebrations safely. Restrictions on alcohol and mobility devices aim to prevent disruptions. Authorities will provide updates if the fireworks display is cancelled.
