Yekaterinburg halts kiosk demolitions amid trade regulation overhaul

Yekaterinburg's trade regulations for non-permanent retail stalls are under scrutiny. The prosecutor's office has challenged the rules, with Governor Denis Pasler and Mayor Alexey Orlov ordering a halt to kiosk demolitions. Both city deputies and the municipal administration support the prosecutor's stance.

The prosecutor argues that vendors should not face disqualification from new tenders due to past contract breaches. This restriction, he believes, stifles competition and violates federal law. The scale of trade affected by these rules remains unclear, as kiosk operators often file zero-tax declarations.

Local business associations and street vendors are actively involved in revising the provisional trade stand regulations. They demand changes to the current rules, which currently allow only two major meat retail chains to operate in the non-permanent market sector.

The revision of Yekaterinburg's non-permanent retail stall regulations is underway. The prosecutor's challenge, supported by the governor, mayor, and city deputies, aims to promote fair competition and transparency in the local trade sector.
