Zahid Hamidi retracts ‘Team B’ claim, confirms DAP’s unity
Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has clarified his earlier remarks about alleged divisions within DAP. His comments had sparked discussion, but he now confirms there are no internal factions in the party. The issue was addressed at the recent Selangor DAP Annual Convention 2026, where party leaders firmly denied any such split.
The controversy began when Ahmad Zahid mentioned 'Team A' and 'Team B' within DAP. However, he later stated that his words were not meant to imply any internal divisions. Instead, he acknowledged that his remarks reflected the views of only a small group of party members, not DAP’s official position.
At the convention, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke strongly denied the existence of factions. He also rejected claims that he had ever referred to a 'Team B' within the party. Loke’s stance was supported by Ahmad Zahid, who agreed with the explanation and withdrew his earlier reference to 'Team B'. The clarification came after speculation arose from Ahmad Zahid’s initial comments. Both leaders now maintain that DAP remains united, with no formal divisions or conflicting groups.
Ahmad Zahid’s withdrawal of the 'Team B' reference and his agreement with Loke’s denial have settled the matter. The issue was resolved without further dispute, confirming that DAP’s leadership stands by its position of internal unity. No additional evidence or contradictory statements have emerged regarding the claims.
