"Zäme Wachse": Project Reaches Important Milestone
Aarau and Unterentfelden have taken a major step toward a possible merger. Both municipal councils approved a detailed plan under the Growing Together initiative. The decision follows months of collaboration between officials, stakeholders, and local feedback groups.
The merger concept was developed jointly by government bodies, administrators, and community representatives. It includes organisational guidelines, plans for expanded service cooperation, and support for local clubs. Future project steps have also been outlined in the document.
The full proposal is now available on the project website, *zäme-wachse.ch*. To discuss the plans with residents, a public information event will be held on January 15, 2026. It will take place at 6:00 PM in Hall 1 of the Kultur- & Kongresshaus (KUK) in Aarau. Architect and urban planner Hansjörg Wyss, a member of the Resonance Group, contributed to shaping the project’s framework. The approval by both councils marks a key moment in the merger process, though final decisions remain pending.
Residents can review the merger details online or attend the January event for further clarification. The project’s next phases will depend on continued public engagement and official assessments. Both municipalities have stressed transparency as the process moves forward.
