ZDG Urges Constructive Talks in German Coalition Negotiations

Following the 2025 Bundestag election in Germany, Hans-Peter Goldnick, President of the Central Association of the German Poultry Industry (ZDG), has urged all parties involved in the upcoming coalition negotiations to engage in constructive discussions. The talks, involving CDU, CSU, and SPD, present a chance to establish a practical and economically viable agricultural and food policy for the future.

Goldnick has expressed concern that the current program agreements, such as the new basic income and retirement package, and unresolved issues regarding combustion engine regulations, do not directly address the priorities of the plant and livestock sector. He has stressed the need to tackle excessive bureaucracy and shift towards market-based incentives for sustainability.

The ZDG President has welcomed the nomination of Günther Felßner for the position of Federal Minister of Agriculture. He has emphasized the need for a clear commitment to strengthening domestic agriculture and the food industry to secure a sustainable future for the sector, particularly the poultry industry. He has appealed to negotiators to strengthen agriculture and the food sector to actively shape a sustainable future for the industry.
