ZDH President: Modernization Agenda a Start, Swift Action Needed

Hans Dittrich, president of the Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH), has spoken out about the modernization agenda. He sees it as an overdue start to a more comprehensive business reform agenda, but warns that swift implementation is crucial.

Dittrich is concerned about rising social security contributions and an unreliable energy price policy, which he believes are burdening employment, innovation, and future prospects. He argues that the modernization agenda, while addressing obstacles in daily business operations like accelerating business start-ups and simplifying skilled labor processes, lacks swift implementation and tangible relief for businesses.

To turn the tide, Dittrich believes the modernization agenda must be followed by a reform agenda that includes fundamental structural reforms, especially in social policy and energy. He calls for consistency in implementation and fewer regulations, but the specific demands of the ZDH in these areas are not detailed.

Dittrich sees the modernization agenda as a starting point for a trend reversal, but stresses the need for swift action. He hopes that the next steps of a reform agenda will bring tangible relief to businesses and address the urgent need for fundamental structural reforms.
