ZEC Launches Entrepreneurship Program for Teens
The Point/Arc's Zembrodt Education Center (ZEC) has launched the ZEC Marketplace program, teaching entrepreneurship to young individuals aged 16-19. The initiative, led by instructor Gina Brockman, helps participants develop essential skills while creating and selling seasonal items.
The program, which began on August 20, 2023, with seven clients meeting twice a week, runs for eight weeks per session. Students learn about costing, pricing, employer expectations, perseverance, communication, and financial literacy. The items they create are then sold online at www.thepointarc.org or www.zembrodteducationcenter.org, or at The Point/Arc's retail store, The Point. The Fall Entrepreneurial class concludes on October 27, 2023, followed by the Winter class starting on November 29, 2023.
The ZEC Marketplace program is part of The Point/Arc's mission to provide opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in various aspects of life, including education and vocational training.
The ZEC Marketplace program equips young individuals with valuable entrepreneurial skills while offering them a platform to sell their creations. With two sessions per year, the initiative supports the growth and development of its participants, contributing to The Point/Arc's broader mission of empowering individuals with I/DD.
