Zelenskyy pledges Ukraine's drone defense expertise to UAE amid Iranian threats
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with UAE leader Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday. The call focused on rising tensions in the Middle East and the growing threat from Iranian attacks. Both leaders discussed ways to protect civilians as the security situation worsens.
Zelenskyy offered Ukraine's support in defending against Iranian drones, citing his country's firsthand experience in countering such weapons.
The conversation came after recent Iranian strikes caused civilian deaths in the region. Zelenskyy began by expressing condolences for the lives lost in these attacks. He then reaffirmed Ukraine's readiness to share its expertise in combating Iranian-made drones with international partners.
During the call, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed highlighted that Iranian aggression had extended beyond military targets. Civilians and infrastructure had also been hit, raising urgent concerns about broader escalation.
The two leaders explored practical steps to strengthen civilian protection. Zelenskyy's proposal included providing the UAE with operational knowledge and defence technologies developed during Ukraine's conflict. These measures aim to help counter the growing drone threat across the Middle East.
The talks mark a direct response to the expanding use of Iranian drones in regional conflicts. Ukraine's offer of technical and tactical support could bolster the UAE's defences in the coming months. Both sides stressed the need for immediate action to reduce risks to civilian populations.
