Zelenskyy Urges Trump to Help End Ukraine War, as TIME Cover Sparks Controversy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged former US President Donald Trump to assist in ending Russia's war in Ukraine, likening it to Trump's successful role in the Gaza peace deal. Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry has slammed a controversial TIME magazine cover featuring Trump.
In 2019, Trump played a key role in brokering a peace deal between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas, ending a two-year conflict in Gaza. He hailed the agreement as '3,000 years' in the making. However, relations between Moscow and Washington have remained strained due to Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine, despite improvements during Trump's second term.
The recent TIME magazine cover depicting Trump drew criticism from both the US leader himself and Russian officials. The cover, which shows Trump with a 'floating crown' due to a low angle and backlighting, was deemed 'the Worst of All Time' by Trump. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova went further, calling the cover 'astonishing' and suggesting it was chosen by 'unhealthy' or 'obsessed' individuals.
Despite Trump's past diplomatic successes, such as the Gaza peace deal, his involvement in resolving the Ukraine conflict remains uncertain. Meanwhile, the controversial TIME magazine cover continues to spark debate, with both Trump and Russian officials expressing their disapproval.
