Zurich’s Hardturm Stadium faces new legal battle in Swiss Supreme Court
The Hardturm Stadium saga has hit another snag. Opponents of the project have taken their case to Switzerland's highest court, the Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne. This appeal comes after two lower courts rejected the opponents' arguments, leaving FC Zürich and Grasshopper Club Zürich frustrated.
The legal dispute, led by stadium opponents, challenges the construction of the Hardturm stadium. Despite two previous rulings in favour of the project, the opponents remain undeterred. Both FC Zürich and Grasshopper Club Zürich have expressed their displeasure, viewing the appeal as an abuse of their rights.
Even if the Federal Supreme Court rules in favour of the stadium, the detailed construction project could still face further challenges. The opponents have made it clear that they will continue to fight the project at every stage.
The Hardturm Stadium saga continues as the appeal process unfolds in Lausanne. Regardless of the outcome, the opponents have signalled their intent to contest the project at every opportunity, potentially leading to further delays.
