86-Year-Old Man Rescued After Being Locked Inside a Car Dealership Overnight
An 86-year-old man wanted to browse cars at a dealership in Marl on Thursday—only to find himself locked inside.
According to the business's posted hours online, closing time was still far off when the 86-year-old visited the car dealership in Marl on Thursday afternoon. But when he tried to leave, he discovered the doors were locked—he had been trapped inside.
After calls to the dealer's service line went unanswered, the senior dialed emergency services at 5:30 p.m. Police and firefighters from Marl responded to the scene. Using a turntable ladder, crews lifted the man over the fence, freeing him unharmed. Neither the dealership nor the senior will face charges for the rescue operation, as a fire department spokesperson explained, "That's what we're here for."
