A39 motorway faces nighttime closures for urgent maintenance next week
Overnight closures will disrupt traffic on the A39 motorway next week. The work, scheduled between Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Lichtenberg, forms part of essential maintenance. Autobahn GmbH has asked drivers to plan ahead and expect delays during the nighttime restrictions. The first phase begins on Monday, May 18, with northbound lanes toward Wolfsburg closing each night from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. This pattern will continue until Wednesday, May 20. During these hours, the on-ramp at Salzgitter-Watenstedt will also be shut, and motorists will be diverted via the Salzgitter-Watenstedt exit.
From Wednesday, May 20, the focus shifts to the southbound lanes toward A7/Kassel. These will close nightly from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM until Friday, May 22. The on-ramp at Salzgitter-Lebenstedt-Süd will remain closed throughout the entire period, with traffic rerouted via the Salzgitter-Lebenstedt-Süd off-ramp. Autobahn GmbH has stressed the necessity of the work. Drivers have been advised to follow signposted diversions and allow extra travel time during the affected nights.
The closures will alternate between directions, ensuring both carriageways receive attention. Motorists travelling through Salzgitter during the late evenings and early mornings should prepare for detours. The maintenance is expected to improve road conditions once completed.
