Baden-Württemberg pumps €9.4M into innovation hubs for startups and research
The state of Baden-Württemberg is investing €9.4 million to boost innovation infrastructure in local municipalities. Two key projects in Weil am Rhein and Freiburg will receive funding to support startups, businesses, and research collaborations. The initiatives aim to tackle shortages in office and lab spaces while driving technological progress.
Weil am Rhein will benefit from over €350,000 for the 'Green Office Kesselhaus' project. This scheme will create modern workspaces, collaborative areas, and digital infrastructure for young companies and academic spin-offs. The goal is to foster structural change and help businesses adopt future technologies like artificial intelligence and automation.
In Freiburg, around €2 million will expand the BioTechPark. The project addresses a long-standing lack of suitable facilities for startups and research teams. Both initiatives will also strengthen regional networks and speed up innovation processes. The funding comes from state resources and the European Regional Development Fund. All projects are scheduled to run until the end of 2028.
The investments will provide new, flexible office and lab spaces for emerging businesses. Companies in Weil am Rhein and Freiburg will gain better access to advanced technologies and collaborative environments. The state expects these upgrades to improve local economic growth and innovation capacity.
