Bavarian Red Cross honors decades of volunteer dedication in Passau
The Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) Passau district branch recently held its annual award ceremony to recognise long-serving volunteers. Over 100 medals were presented to individuals marking 25, 40, and 50 years of dedication. The event highlighted the vital role of volunteerism within the organisation. Six volunteers from Passau were among those honoured. Thomas Hofherr received a medal for 25 years of service. Andreas Schwarz and Rainer Gabriel were both recognised for 40 years of commitment.
Anton Ganczer, Ulrich Lang, and Paul Salomon were celebrated for reaching the remarkable milestone of 50 years. Their decades of service were acknowledged as a testament to the enduring strength of local volunteer efforts.
Lord Mayor Jürgen Dupper attended the ceremony to personally congratulate the awardees. In his speech, he expressed gratitude for their unwavering willingness to serve the community. The event wrapped up with informal discussions between representatives of BRK’s local divisions and the Water Rescue Service. The ceremony underscored the BRK Passau district branch’s tradition of honouring long-term volunteers. A total of 100 medals were awarded, reflecting the organisation’s reliance on sustained commitment. The recognition reaffirms the importance of volunteer work in supporting local emergency and social services.
