Berlin brawl turns violent with racist slurs and hit-and-run chaos
Incident No. 0426
A dispute escalated in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg district yesterday morning. At around 11:10 a.m., a 49-year-old woman is alleged to have become involved in a verbal altercation with two other women, aged 41 and 49, while passing the intersection of Norwegerstraße and Finnländische Straße. During the confrontation, the 49-year-old suspect reportedly hurled racist insults at the other woman of the same age. A 67-year-old companion of the victim then stepped in to assist.
According to accounts, the suspect struck her opponent in the shoulder with her fist, at which point the 67-year-old man first subdued the attacker and then her 49-year-old friend, forcing both to the ground. The 49-year-old suspect is said to have kicked the other 49-year-old while she lay on the ground. The two women then fled into the older woman's car. The 67-year-old reportedly positioned himself in front of the vehicle on Norwegerstraße in an attempt to block their escape, but the 49-year-old driver struck him and sped away.
Responding officers located and stopped the fleeing suspect a short time later on Dänestraße. All four individuals involved sustained minor abrasions but declined medical treatment and were released from the scene after police procedures. While the 49-year-old suspect and her 67-year-old companion face allegations of grievous bodily harm, the other 49-year-old woman must answer for racist insults, simple assault, and grievous bodily harm.
The investigation has been taken over by the relevant specialized units of Police Directorate 1 (North) and the State Protection Division of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office.
