Berlin police intensify search for missing Chilean businessman Aleph Palma
BERLIN (dpa) — A year after a young Chilean businessman vanished in Berlin, police have again searched a pond in the city center. Divers combed the waters of the Tiergarten park on Wednesday and Thursday but initially found nothing.
A police spokesperson said underwater searches may continue on Friday with support from the technical response unit. While no new leads have emerged regarding the missing man, the police missing persons unit is still actively pursuing the case.
Missing Man's Watch Found in Tiergarten
Aleph Christian von Fellenberg Palma, 33, disappeared in Berlin on April 20, 2025. According to police, the young man—who spent his childhood in Germany—had been on a business trip in the city since April 15, 2025. Media reports indicate he was staying at a downtown hotel, which he left late in the evening on the day he went missing. A police tracking dog later discovered his smartwatch in the Tiergarten.
Authorities had appealed to the public for assistance and received dozens of tips. The man's mother, a historian from Chile, also launched her own weeks-long search in Berlin, posting flyers and reaching out to the public through other channels—but to no avail.
