Berlin politician threatened in broad daylight at Steglitz information stand

Since yesterday afternoon, Berlin police have been investigating a man on suspicion of assault and making threats in the Steglitz district. Emergency responders were alerted at around 3:45 p.m. to Ahornstraße near Schloßstraße after a 61-year-old man allegedly threatened a politician—who was operating an information stand there—and verbally assaulted him. Officers detained the suspect and released him after verifying his identity. The State Protection Unit of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office (Landeskriminalamt) has since taken over the investigation.
