Berlin's 2035 World Expo Bid Wins Strong Public Support in New Poll
Berlin’s bid to host the World Expo 2035 has gained strong public backing, according to a new survey. The poll, carried out by INSA Consulere, shows over half of residents support the city’s plans. Many see the event as a chance to boost jobs, infrastructure, and innovation.
The survey took place in Erfurt between 4 and 8 May, questioning 1,000 Berlin residents aged 16 and older. The results reflect the city’s demographic mix, offering a representative view of local opinion.
Overall, 55% of Berliners back the Expo bid, with 22% fully in favour and 33% generally supportive. Only 14% oppose it, split between 6% who completely reject the idea and 8% who somewhat disagree. When asked about the benefits, 41% believe the Expo would improve infrastructure and urban development. Another 32% think it would create more jobs and vocational training. A further 32% see it as an opportunity to drive innovation and focus on future-focused themes.
The findings suggest broad public confidence in Berlin’s Expo bid. Supporters highlight potential gains in employment, city planning, and technological progress. The survey provides a clear picture of where residents stand as the city moves forward with its proposal.
