Berlin's deportation memorial defaced with graffiti in Moabit district

A memorial honouring deportation victims in Berlin has been vandalised with graffiti. The incident took place in the Moabit district, near Putlitzbrücke. Authorities were alerted by a witness and responded quickly to the scene. The vandalism was first reported by a member of the public. Officers arrived at the site around 5 p.m. after receiving a tip-off. They found graffiti scrawled across the memorial, though details of the exact wording have not yet been released.

The case has now been handed over to specialists. Berlin’s State Criminal Police Office has assigned its political extremism unit to lead the investigation.
