Burgenland’s governor faces no-confidence vote after tenth larynx surgery
Burgenland's Governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) has undergone his tenth larynx surgery, with plans to deliver the budget speech himself on November 28. Meanwhile, opposition parties FPÖ and ÖVP are set to challenge his leadership with a vote of no confidence on November 13.
Doskozil, who described the recent procedure as 'not exactly minor, but by now routine', is currently recovering and taking time to avoid infection. The surgery was performed at Leipzig University Hospital.
The opposition parties FPÖ, led by Norbert Hofer, and ÖVP, with Bernd Strobl at the helm, have scheduled a vote of no confidence against Doskozil for November 13. This move comes in response to a critical audit report highlighting the rising state debt in Burgenland.
Doskozil is determined to deliver the budget speech himself on November 28 during a special session, despite his recent surgery. The upcoming vote of no confidence, however, may pose a challenge to his leadership.
