Comelec approves 10 new Bangsamoro parties for 2026 elections
In its Resolution 11216, the Comelec said RPPPs have until Wednesday, April 29, 2026, to hold their conventions in order to nominate their official candidates for Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) district representatives for the September 14 polls.
"RPPPs and coalitions may hold party convention to nominate their official candidates for the parliamentary district representative seats. Such party convention may be held until April 29, 2026," said the Comelec.
Immediately after holding their party conventions, the commission said the RPPPs must submit their respective Sworn List of Authorized Signatories.
"The chairperson or President, or, in their absence, the secretary-general of the RPPP or Coalition shall personally submit to the Law Department a Sworn List of Authorized Signatories. It shall be submitted to the Law Department on or before April 30, 2026" said the Comelec.
The poll body said the Sworn List of Authorized Signatories must include three specimen signatures, their positions in the RPPP or Coalition, and their respective territorial jurisdictions or places of authority to nominate and sign the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) of their official candidates.
The Comelec said their failure to submit the Sworn List of Authorized Signatories with Specimen Signatures within the prescribed period shall result in the declaration of their nominees as independent candidates.
The Comelec en banc earlier approved the petitions for registration of 10 RPPPs while thumbing down one application.
Approved were the petitions of Bangsamoro Party, Alliance of Bangsamoro Tri-Peoples Party, Bangsamoro People's Democratic Party, Best Party, Progresibong Bangsamoro Party, Bangsamoro People's Party, Bangsamoro Federalist Party, BARMM Grand Coalition, Moro Ako Party, and Indigenous Settlers Sama and Minorities Alliance Party.
Rejected by the Comelec, on the other hand, is the petition of the People's Consultative Mushawara Party.
