Customs Service Launches Interactive Pop-Up Store in Offenburg This Summer

The Federal Customs Administration is set to open an epic pop-up store in Offenburg's STADTRAUM from July 28 to August 2, 2025. The store aims to educate the public about the customs service and its training opportunities. School classes are invited to visit during the last week before the summer holidays.

The store will be open from Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 to 18:00, and on Saturday, August 2, from 9:00 to 17:00. Visitors can expect a range of interactive activities. On the final Saturday, customs officers will demonstrate handling escalating control situations on the Offenburger weekly market square, with a customs dog assisting. The public will also have the chance to sit in a patrol vehicle and see the equipment used by officers.

The epic pop-up store is an initiative of the Main Customs Office Lörrach, which employs around 1,000 staff across various locations, covering an area from the Swiss border to the Ortenau district. The store will be opened by the head of the office, Mr. Matthias Heuser, and Mr. Mayor Marco Steffens. Despite the wide range of tasks undertaken by the Federal Customs Administration, including control of private traffic, handling of commercial goods imports, tax collection, and combating smuggling and tax evasion, the name of the head of the Hauptzollamt Lörrach remains unconfirmed for the pop-up office in Offenburg.

The epic pop-up store in Offenburg's STADTRAUM offers a unique opportunity for the public to learn about the customs service and its vital role in society. With interactive demonstrations and the chance to explore a patrol vehicle, the event promises to be both informative and engaging. The store is open to all, with school classes particularly encouraged to visit during the final week before the summer holidays.
