Democrats dominate Passaic County with decisive election wins
Democrats have secured a clean sweep in Passaic County, with Michael Ramaglia and Christina Schratz winning the contest for two open seats on the Board of Commissioners. They defeated Republicans Nicolino Gallo and Danilo Ramirez by around 20,000 votes, ensuring the party retains its 7-0 majority.
The election saw a mix of fresh faces and familiar names. Christina Schratz, a current school board member in Passaic, joined the commissioners' ranks. Michael Ramaglia, a former Republican councilman in West Milford, switched parties to secure his victory. The Democrats' win was bolstered by the retirement of longtime Democrat Pat Lepore, who did not seek re-election.
The Republican candidates faced an uphill battle. Nicolino Gallo, a former county commissioner, lost his bid for a second term last year. Danilo Ramirez, a school board member in Hawthorne, was unable to gain enough support to unseat the Democratic candidates.
With the election results in, Democrats maintain their full control of the Passaic County Board of Commissioners. Michael Ramaglia and Christina Schratz will join the board, bringing new perspectives while upholding the party's majority. The upcoming elections will determine if this trend continues.
