Democrats Hold Majority in Gloucester County After Tight Commissioner Race
In a closely watched election, Democrats Frank DiMarco and Tom Bianco have secured their seats on the Gloucester County Board of Commissioners. This victory maintains the Democrats' majority on the board.
Frank DiMarco, a seasoned politician, is beginning his seventh term as a county commissioner. Joining him is Tom Bianco, the Clayton Mayor, who was a late addition to the Democratic ticket. Both candidates campaigned on a platform of continuity and progress.
The election was not without controversy. Democrats initially attempted to implement office-block ballots for the general election, a move that was initially validated by the Superior Court. However, this decision was later overturned by an appellate court.
Republicans had high hopes of taking the majority. They fielded Jonathan Sammons, a former sheriff, and Byron Driscoll, a successful businessman. Despite their efforts, the Republican candidates fell short, with DiMarco and Bianco receiving the most votes.
With the election results in, Democrats have retained their majority on the Gloucester County Board of Commissioners. Frank DiMarco and Tom Bianco will now serve together, representing the Democratic Party's vision for the county's future.
