Rail Line Near Zielitz Closed for Two Days Due to Track Misalignment—How Deutsche Bahn Is Managing Train Services
Deutsche Bahn shuts key railway line after tracks shift near Magdeburg
A section of the railway between Magdeburg and Stendal has shifted out of position, forcing a 48-hour closure of the tracks near Zielitz in the coming days. According to Deutsche Bahn, repairs will take place from late Tuesday night through late Thursday night. Replacement bus services will be provided for the S1 and RE20 lines between Wolmirstedt and Tangerhütte during the disruption.
The rail operator attributed the closure to a misalignment of the tracks in that segment, though the exact cause is still under investigation. To ensure safe operations in the meantime, Deutsche Bahn has already imposed significant speed restrictions on trains in the area.
