Peine's Highland Gathering alters traffic and parking for 26th edition
Peine’s 26th Highland Gathering will take place on May 9 and 10, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to the city centre. Organisers have announced changes to parking, road rules, and transport options to manage the large crowds. Many parking areas around Schützenplatz will be closed during the event. No public parking will be allowed on the northern side or most of the southern side of the square. Instead, attendees can use the Wallstraße underground garage, the Werderstraße multi-storey car park, or several surface lots. The schoolyard at Bodenstedt/Wilhelmschule (Hans-Marburger-Straße) will also open for parking, along with a designated bicycle area near the Owl Monument on the north side of Schützenplatz.
The Hagenmarkt car park will close on Saturday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to the weekly market. Additionally, a 30 km/h speed limit will apply on Richard-Langeheine-Straße from May 9 to 10. Visitors are advised to consider public transport, with buses and trains serving the area. A full parking map and festival programme are available online at [www.peine-erleben.de](http://www.peine-erleben.de).
The event will bring major changes to parking and traffic in Peine’s centre. With restricted zones, lower speed limits, and extra parking options, organisers aim to ensure smooth access for the expected crowds. Detailed information remains available on the official website for those planning to attend.
