Elderly Union County Woman Allowed to Vote Again After Court Ruling
A Union County woman, elderly and with English as a second language, was permitted to vote again after a Superior Court ruling. The woman initially cast a blank ballot due to inadequate assistance at the polling station.
The woman's relative was not allowed to assist her in the voting booth, leaving her to navigate the voting machine alone. Superior Court Judge John Deitch ordered the Union County Board of Elections to locate and remove the woman's blank ballot, allowing her to vote again with proper assistance.
The Board of Elections encourages voters who submit blank ballots to vote again if they encounter difficulties. The woman's case highlights the importance of accessible voting procedures for all citizens, regardless of age or language barriers.
The woman will now have the opportunity to cast her vote again with the assistance she needs. The Union County Board of Elections reminds voters that if they encounter issues and submit a blank ballot, they can vote again with proper assistance.
