The far too long chronicle of racially motivated murders in Germany - Far-right extremists killed 220 in Germany since 1990, report reveals
Nine people were killed in a racist attack in Hanau on February 19, 2020. Since German reunification, far-right extremists are believed to have murdered at least 220 people in the country.
According to figures from the Amadeu Antonio Foundation, far-right perpetrators have killed at least 220 people in Germany since 1990. Yet official government statistics list only 113 of these cases, which we refer to here as "state-recognized victims."
For years, the foundation has criticized the significant discrepancy between the officially acknowledged victims of far-right violence and the actual number. It is highly likely that the true figure is far higher than reported.
