FBI Director Kash Patel faces mounting criticism over leadership failures

After FBI Director Kash Patel was accused of excessive drinking and unexplained absences in a bombshell report that some believe could threaten his job, Alyssa Farah Griffin and the ladies of The View criticized the Trump official, claiming he is just one of multiple "deeply incompetent, deeply unserious" appointees serving in Trump's cabinet.

Griffin pointed our during Tuesday's (April 21) broadcast that Patel's position is typically "above the partisan fold," with those appointed often serving multiple terms regardless of who is in office, which has not been the case with Patel. She also went on to call out Patel for bungling "two very high profile cases" that have come up during the Trump administration - Charlie Kirk's assassination and Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

"Charlie Kirk's assassination, it wasn't the FBI that solved it. Eventually, he was turned over by his own family. It was local law enforcement and, in fact, [the FBI] put out inaccurate information early on," she pointed out.

"And I think all of us are still praying over Nancy Guthrie, just hoping she's going to be found," Griffin continued. "I'm starting to lose faith in our federal law enforcement and I've never felt like that in my lifetime."

"Regardless of who you vote for, who's in the White House, you want good people there and I don't know if we have them right now," Griffin pointed out.

Sunny Hostin agreed, pointing also to President Trump's other appointees, namely Pete Hegseth, Kristi Noem and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

"It just seems to be very clear that the best of the best are not there. They're deeply incompetent, deeply unserious," Hostin commented.

Joy Behar then weighed in to ask if this could have been done on purpose.

"Does Trump pick these people because they're incompetent, that way he has stuff on them?" she asked. "Or is he so incompetent that he doesn't know they're incompetent?"

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
