Freiburg Launches Committee to Empower Women in Agriculture by 2026
Women in Agriculture to Receive Greater Visibility and Networking Support
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the Baden Agricultural Association (Badischer Landwirtschaftlicher Hauptverband, BLHV) launched a new Women Entrepreneurs Committee in Freiburg. The initiative aims to provide targeted support for women in agricultural businesses and give them a stronger voice in professional and agrarian policy discussions, the association announced.
During the committee's inaugural meeting, key priorities were established. Alongside traditional gender equality issues, the focus will be on business management, technical expertise, and developments in agricultural policy. The committee positions itself as a platform for exchange, networking, and collective advancement.
According to the BLHV, women play a crucial role in agricultural enterprises—driving innovation, direct marketing, and new business models. Yet they continue to face unique challenges in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
This effort aligns with broader trends: at the federal level, programs promoting women in agriculture are expanding. Additionally, 2026 has been designated internationally as a year dedicated to empowering women in the agricultural sector.
Through this new body, the BLHV seeks to strengthen the long-term role of women in farming and increase their participation in operational and political decision-making.
