Jessica Cohen named executive director of Senate Majority Office
Jessica Cohen has been appointed as the new executive director of the Senate Majority Office. She succeeds Tim Lydon, who was hired by Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill as her chief counsel. Cohen, currently serving as Senate President Nick Scutari's chief of staff, expressed her honour in taking on the new role.
Cohen brings a wealth of experience to her new position. She has previously served as chief of staff for state Sen. Joe Cryan and former state Sen. Ellen Karcher. Senate President Scutari praised Cohen's experience and her ability to gain the trust and respect of the Democratic caucus and public officials.
Senate Majority Leader M. Teresa Ruiz also expressed confidence in Cohen's leadership and her understanding of the legislative process. Cohen will continue to serve as Scutari's chief of staff in her new role, indicating a smooth transition.
