The groundbreaking ceremony for the new emergency services station in Langelsheim took place today, Wednesday, marking the start of a "forward-looking project to strengthen emergency medical and rescue services for residents in the Goslar district," according to a press release from the district administration.

District Administrator Dr. Alexander Saipa and Langelsheim Mayor Ingo Henze described the project as a "modern, high-performance, and trailblazing solution for the region." The construction of the new station follows the findings of a 2019 needs assessment, which recommended Langelsheim as an additional sixth emergency response location to sustainably improve response times.

Optimizing Emergency Care in the Region

District Administrator Dr. Alexander Saipa stated: "The location here in the Langelsheim Business Park was strategically chosen to enable significantly faster access to areas such as Lutter and Liebenburg, thereby optimizing emergency care across the entire region. The new station will empower our emergency responders to provide even more reliable care with shorter response times for the benefit of our residents. This has been and remains our declared goal."

Langelsheim's mayor added: "The new emergency services station, located near the municipal yard and the business park, will create valuable synergies. For example, the rescue service will be able to use the lecture hall and meeting rooms for events. I look forward to the collaboration and the good neighborly relations we already enjoy on Harzstraße."

New Emergency Station Expected by Late Summer 2027

Thomas Ebert, operations manager of the district's public utilities, explained: "The current construction schedule anticipates completion of the new emergency services station by late summer 2027. We hope to avoid the delays we experienced during the planning phase. However, I am optimistic that the project will proceed smoothly."

The total investment amounts to approximately €4.5 million, with a focus not only on safety but also on energy efficiency and future viability. Around 50 percent of the roof area will be equipped with a photovoltaic system (approximately 90 kWp), complemented by modern climate control and heating technology based on a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system.

The single-story building will feature a functional social area with separate changing and sanitary facilities, designated clean and contaminated zones, four rest rooms, a training room, an office, a disinfection room, a kitchen, a lounge, and a terrace.

The vehicle bay will accommodate five parking spaces, along with spacious storage and equipment rooms. The construction adheres to the latest DIN standards for safety, ergonomics, and working conditions.
