Kofi Jumah rejects NPP political roles but vows free expert advice

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Managing Director of the Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC) and ex-Mayor of Kumasi, has declared he is not interested in any political appointment should the New Patriotic Party (NPP) come to power. Instead, he has offered to provide free advice to government appointees and the party.

Kofi Jumah, who has held several political positions, has made it clear that he does not intend to take up any political role again, particularly from the NPP. This announcement comes amidst speculation about potential cabinet appointments if the NPP wins the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, in international news, Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, has announced her retirement from Congress. She will not seek reelection and will leave her seat at the end of her term in January 2027. In Austria, Harald Mahrer has confirmed his withdrawal as president of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) in November 2025, following a salary controversy.

While Kofi Jumah has ruled out a return to political office, he has expressed a willingness to share his expertise with the NPP and government appointees. His decision not to seek political appointment has been welcomed by some, while others have expressed disappointment at losing his experience in government.
