Kosovar man to stand trial for violent burglary and bicycle thefts in Freiburg
A 22-year-old Kosovar man will face trial on May 20, 2026, at Freiburg District Court. He stands accused of multiple serious offences, including robbery, aggravated burglary, and theft. The proceedings are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. before a lay judges’ court.
The charges stem from two separate incidents. On June 19, 2025, the defendant allegedly stole four high-end bicycles from Freiburg. Two were locked in an underground parking garage, while the others were secured outside a building.
On or around November 1, 2025, he is accused of violently assaulting a man to steal his apartment key. Using that key, he later broke into a residence on Zähringer Straße, taking around €25,000 in cash and jewellery. The defendant remains in pretrial detention ahead of the hearing.
The trial will address both the bicycle thefts and the violent burglary. If convicted, the defendant could face significant legal consequences for the combined charges. The court will examine evidence related to each offence in detail.
