Landshut Marks Volkstrauertag with Citywide Commemorations
Landshut residents will mark Volkstrauertag with commemorations across the city, including Münchnerau, Achdorf, Schweinbach, Hofberg, and Auloh. The main event will take place at Landshut Main Cemetery on November 16, starting at 4:30 p.m.
The Volkstrauertag ceremony will include a solemn procession, welcoming remarks, a commemorative contribution, a prayer, and national anthems. A special segment will mark '80 Years of Peace: The End of War in Landshut'. The main memorial event will be held at the Hauptfriedhof (cemetery) in Landshut, with participation from the city administration, the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, clubs, associations, eyewitnesses, and students from a local school.
Following the ceremony, a social gathering will be held at the main fire station on Niedermayerstraße.
Volkstrauertag serves as a powerful reminder of the victims of war, violence, and tyranny. Landshut's commemorations aim to honor the past and promote peace for the future.
