TTSL Workers Hold General Assembly
Lisbon ferry workers gather to protest wage offer amid inflation concerns
"Due to a General Assembly called by representative trade unions of TTSL—Transtejo Soflusa employees, disruptions to regular river transport services are expected between 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM," states a notice published on the company's official website.
Workers from TTSL—Transtejo Soflusa will gather this Thursday in a general assembly between 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM at the Cais do Sodré River Terminal in Lisbon to discuss collective bargaining proposals.
According to a statement from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS), the company's management has maintained its initial wage update proposal, based on the terms set by a government decree for public enterprises.
In Decree 1173-A/2026, issued on February 2 and published in the Official Gazette, the government authorized "an increase in the total wage bill for state-owned companies of up to 4.6% in 2026," accounting for all remuneration components, along with "a €56.58 raise for employees with a gross base salary of up to €2,631.62."
FECTRANS, however, deems the proposal "inadequate given the current sharp rise in the cost of living."
In its statement, FECTRANS also warns of several proposed changes by TTSL management to the existing Company Agreement, some of which it claims would "negatively impact workers' monthly wages."
