Magadan and Rostov Regions Strengthen Legislative Ties in New Pact

Our website, April 24 – The legislative assemblies of Magadan and Rostov regions have signed an agreement on interparliamentary cooperation. The document was formalized during a ceremonial session of the Southern Russian Parliamentary Association in Rostov-on-Don. The agreement was signed by Anatoly Shirokov, Speaker of the Magadan Regional Duma, and Alexander Ishchenko, Speaker of the Rostov Regional Legislative Assembly, the Magadan Regional Duma's press service reports.

Anatoly Shirokov noted that the agreement will strengthen existing interparliamentary ties between Rostov and Magadan regions.

"In practice, Magadan and Rostov regions have long maintained close cooperation, which has become especially active since the start of the special military operation. Volunteer routes pass through Rostov, delivering gifts and essential supplies 'to the front lines' for our fellow countrymen fighting Ukrainian Nazism. The work of Magadan residents in our partner town of Zhdanovka would also be far more difficult without Rostov's support," Shirokov emphasized.

The Kolyma lawmaker also highlighted the importance of exchanging views and collaboration between regional parliamentarians, which helps refine regional and federal legislation more effectively.

The signing of this agreement marks another step toward building an efficient system of cooperation among Russia's legislative bodies. The Magadan Regional Duma already has cooperation agreements with parliaments in the Far Eastern regions and several other Russian federal subjects.
