Malaysia extends RM300 monthly Budi Diesel aid amid rising fuel costs
The Malaysian government has confirmed that Budi Diesel aid will continue at RM300 per month in April. This decision aims to support those affected by rising global fuel costs. Applications for the subsidy remain open year-round through the official website. The aid programme, first introduced in May 2024, has already distributed RM1.12 billion in cash assistance. It helps ease living costs for targeted groups while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Starting April 8, another RM102 million will be disbursed to around 340,000 recipients.
An additional interim payment of RM100 will remain in place, ensuring total support stays at RM300 for individuals and Budi Agri-Commodity scheme beneficiaries. The government has also tightened enforcement to prevent misuse and ensure subsidies reach only eligible recipients.
Officials will keep a close watch on market trends to guarantee energy supply stability. If needed, further measures will be introduced. The government is also exploring medium- and long-term strategies to keep the subsidy system sustainable and transparent. The continued RM300 monthly aid will shield Malaysians from full exposure to rising fuel prices. With ongoing monitoring and stricter enforcement, the programme aims to provide stable support while maintaining fiscal discipline. Further adjustments may follow based on market conditions.
