Wolfsburg imposes Ascension Day alcohol ban at Allerpark for public safety

Wolfsburg will enforce an alcohol ban at Allerpark on Thursday, May 14, 2023, for Ascension Day. The restriction aims to keep public order and reduce disturbances during the annual celebrations. Authorities first introduced the measure in 2012 after repeated incidents linked to excessive drinking. The ban will run from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM on the day. Carrying or drinking alcohol in any part of Allerpark will be prohibited. However, licensed hospitality zones and the marksmen’s festival grounds remain exempt from the rule.

Police and municipal enforcement teams will patrol the area to ensure compliance. Since the ban’s introduction over a decade ago, officials have recorded fewer alcohol-related incidents. The policy was originally put in place after past celebrations saw public disturbances tied to heavy drinking.

The measure focuses on maintaining safety during a busy public event. Licensed venues and festival areas will still serve alcohol, but open spaces in Allerpark must stay alcohol-free. Authorities will continue monitoring the situation throughout the day.
