Wolfsburg cracks down as 250 food businesses fail hygiene checks in 2025
Wolfsburg’s food safety inspectors have released their latest findings on hygiene and health violations. In 2025, nearly 250 businesses failed to meet standards, with many requiring urgent action. The city has continued its strict monitoring into 2026, with hundreds of inspections already carried out this year. In 2025, Wolfsburg oversaw 950 food service businesses. Inspectors conducted 593 routine checks and 266 additional visits triggered by complaints or incidents. The results showed 246 businesses breaking hygiene or health rules, with 175 needing immediate intervention. The first three months of 2026 saw even more activity. A total of 130 scheduled inspections and 31 incident-related checks took place, covering 789 establishments. Of these, 44 were found in breach of regulations, while 57 faced further enforcement measures.
