North Star Media acquires Manchester's Picture Shop in major post-production deal

North Star Media has taken over Picture Shop, a leading post-production company based in Manchester. The deal secures all 40 jobs at the facility and rebrands it as Home Post Production. The acquisition was completed from Streamland Media, which previously owned the Manchester operations. Under the new ownership, the business will keep its 22,000 square foot city centre site and continue offering full-service post-production.

The facility has expanded over the years to become the largest UK post-production house outside London. Services include on-location capture, offline and online editing, colour grading, visual effects, and audio work. Paul Austin, who has led the team since 2017, will remain as managing director of Home Post Production.

David Jackson, chief executive of North Star Media, will oversee the business. He highlighted the company’s commitment to the team’s talent and the facility’s track record of success. All existing creative, technical, and production roles will stay in place under the new ownership. The rebranded Home Post Production will maintain its full range of services while operating under North Star Media’s direction.
