Malaysia’s King Strengthens Ties with Bahrain in Historic State Visit

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has concluded a state visit to Bahrain, marking a significant milestone in the close friendship between the two nations. The visit, His Majesty's sixth to the region, was greeted with great splendour by King Hamad, including special programmes and prominent flag displays.

Sultan Ibrahim's visit comes as the latest in a series of diplomatic tours, following previous visits to Singapore, China, Brunei, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. During his time in Bahrain, His Majesty decreed that Malaysia and Bahrain share mutual respect, values, aspirations, and commitments towards peace and progress.

The close relationship between the two kings was evident as Sultan Ibrahim referred to King Hamad as 'brother', expressing deep affection and respect. King Hamad reciprocated this sentiment, expressing Bahrain's commitment to being a long-term strategic partner to Malaysia, strengthening collaboration in various fields.

Bahrain's significance as a trading partner to Malaysia was highlighted during the visit, with the Gulf state ranking as the ninth-largest trading partner, 11th-largest export destination, and eighth-largest import source among West Asian countries. Bilateral trade between the two nations amounted to RM1.19 billion (US$284 million) in 2019. The conclusion of this state visit signifies a new chapter in the positive cooperation and strengthened diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Bahrain.
