Man dies after being struck by ICE train at Denzlingen station

On Saturday evening, February 14, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a fatal accident occurred at Denzlingen station when a 51-year-old pedestrian was struck by a passing ICE high-speed train.
According to initial findings, the man climbed down from the platform onto the tracks near the station building in an apparent attempt to cross between Track 1 and Track 2. He reportedly failed to notice the approaching train, which struck him at high speed despite the driver initiating an emergency brake.
The man died at the scene from severe injuries.
The railway line remained closed until around 1:30 a.m. during the accident investigation, causing delays to rail services.
The Freiburg Criminal Police (Kriminalpolizei) has taken over further investigations.
