Massive corruption probe rocks Euskirchen Prison after bribery allegations
A major corruption probe is underway at Euskirchen Prison after allegations surfaced that staff took bribes in exchange for favours. On May 6, 2026, Bonn Police launched coordinated raids targeting seven prison officers and several former inmates suspected of involvement.
The operation involved over 210 officers searching eight private homes, along with areas inside Euskirchen Prison and its administrative offices at Euskirchen District Court. Authorities aimed to collect evidence, including mobile phones, documents, and other materials linked to the alleged misconduct.
The investigation centres on seven male prison officers, aged between 37 and 58, accused of accepting cash or other benefits. In return, inmates reportedly received privileges such as day release, furloughs, or advance warning of inspections. A 39-year-old female officer and three former inmates—aged 30, 35, and 49—are also under scrutiny. Suspects were brought to Bonn Police Headquarters for identification and questioning. The raids marked the latest step in an ongoing inquiry, with further investigations still in progress.
The case has exposed potential systemic corruption within Euskirchen Prison. Police continue to gather evidence and question those involved, though no formal charges have yet been announced. The outcome of the probe could lead to disciplinary action or legal proceedings against the accused.
